Troubleshooting Guide - Foldbook Studio Documentation
You're here to fold books, not yell at your computer. I've designed the Studio to be as smooth as possible, but browsers can be finicky. Here are the fastest ways I bypass the most common software hiccups.
1. "My PDF Won't Download"
The blank screen of death
If you click "Generate PDF" and nothing happens, your design is probably so complex that it maxed out your browser's memory. It happens when you layer 50 text shapes on top of each other!
How I fix it:
- The easiest workaround: Just click "View as Table" instead. It skips the heavy PDF rendering, displays the numbers on-screen, and you can just print the webpage.
- Or, try clearing your browser cache and reloading.
2. Weird Printing Issues
Pattern rows splitting across pages
There is nothing worse than grabbing your ruler and realizing the page number is printed on one sheet, but the measurements got cut off and pushed to the next.
How I fix it:
- When the print dialog pops up, triple-check that your scale is set to 100% or "Fit to Page".
- Turn OFF "Double-sided printing". Flipping paper constantly while trying to hold a book open is a nightmare.
3. The Canvas Feels Sluggish
Foldbook Studio runs entirely locally in your browser using WebGL. If dragging text feels laggy, it's almost definitely a browser issue.
What I personally use:
- ✅ Google Chrome (Works best for me)
- ✅ Firefox or Safari (Also totally fine)
- ❌ Old versions of Internet Explorer (Please, for your own sanity, update your browser!)
